Hsinyu Chu was born in Taipei, Taiwan. She came to San Francisco to attend university and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts at Academy of Art University’s School of Fashion Design in the spring of 2013. However, fashion design wasn’t satisfy her creative cravings. Instead, she felt that handcrafting jewelry could truly embody her vibrant creativity and passion. So, in 2016, she obtained another master degree in Jewelry and Metal Arts from AAU. She received the Best in Category Award for Director Choice MFA at the AAU Spring Show in 2014. She also received a Yuma Symposium Work/Study Scholarship in February 2016. Additionally, one of her pieces of jewelry was specially exhibited in the 20th Annual New Generations Student Showcase at the De Young museum. She worked for the local jewelry artist, Aimee Golant and Alice Roche. Now, she is running her own jewelry studio as JC art & design in Milpitas, CA.
